Mohammad Farsi MBE

Dr Mohammad Farsi came to the UK in 1982. Previously, he was a naval engineer and Commander in the Iranian Navy. He obtained his doctorate and was employed as a lecturer at Newcastle University in 1985. After retirement He was an IM at HMP Frankland, and Chairman for two years.  He served on the executive committee of the BME Friends of NSPCC and is an honorary member of the NSPCC Board. He has been a Community Representative on BME Education Support Group and Newcastle BME Safeguarding Initiative. He also served on the Newcastle Safeguarding Children Board and is a member of MSET. In 2013 Mohammad joined the EA Local Advisory Board, becoming its Chair in 2014. When in 2016 the Advisory Board became the Local Governing Body, he became the first chair. He has also served as a Governor at Bede Academy, Blyth, and Newcastle College. In 2019, Mohammad received the MBE for services to the automotive industry, to education and to cultural engagement. 

As chair of the LGB Mohammad looks for the board’s effective engagement with the academy’s vision, ethos and the strategic direction, ensuring that high educational standards are achieved.
