At Excelsior Primary School, we value the support of parents and carers in the education of the children. For this reason we aim to provide a wide range of relevant and creative homework opportunities. It is expected that children in both KS1 and KS2 receive one home learning activity each week. This could be numeracy, literacy or topic based and should link directly to the curriculum being taught. Teachers may also ask student to try online homework through Times Tables Rock Stars and Education City. In addition Rainbird pupils and parents pride themselves on creating elaborate homework related to themes; Anderson shelters, planetary systems and life size robots! Also remember it is essential to listen to your child read at home whenever possible and make a record in their reading log. Please remember homework should never be too onerous nor should it ever create stress within the pupil’s family. If parents have any concerns they should not hesitate to contact the school.
